Do dreams serve as a silent guide to hidden emotions and untold stories? Or are they mysterious narratives we can use to deepen our sense of wonderment of the mind’s depth?
Synopsis Sigmund Freud captivated crowds with his theory that dreams are manifestations of suppressed desires. A more popular consensus is that dreams do have a purpose, and this purpose is largely connected to our emotions. Dreams seem to help us process emotions by encoding and constructing memories of them. Or perhaps, they are simply serving as a sort of data dump—a clearing of the day’s useless memories and a caching of the valuable ones. Whatever they are, we do not truly know, but the mystery of dreams inspired us to document countless dreams. Here are a few selected from our continuing human awareness campaign, conceived and directed by our own Richard Radstone: “Dreams.”
